ABOUT MEMBERSHIP     WHAT DO UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISTS BELIEVE?

Greetings and welcome,

We are an enthusiastic and growing congregation. Our members come from a variety of religious backgrounds and have found a religious home where they feel comfortable and can share ideas with others in a liberal religion. We are an inclusive group of people who enjoy meeting new people and sharing our religious home.

Being a Unitarian Universalist is a complex, individualistic religious experience. We embrace our UU Principles, which promote our liberal faith. Our minister Reverend Hope Johnson preaches most Sundays, and when she is off, we have guest ministers or lay-led services. Reverend Hope is available to speak with you if you have any questions- call her or email her. Also, please take the time to read our denominational literature offered on our web site.

We offer a caring Religious Education Program for children from infants to senior youth in age. We make it a point to include our youth in every service by having them be a part of the beginning portion of the service. I like that about us. We provide professional Child Care at every Sunday service for parents with babies or toddlers. We have many inter-generational events during the year and we all have a good time. Our Adult Religious Education Program includes various workshops and activities, a Buddhist mediation group, and occasionally, a minister led class about our religion and its history.

Here at UUCCN, we have many committees and activities that you can match your talents and interests with others. Our calendar is full and we have many events during our religious year that are both fun and important to the growth of our congregation. These many activities and committees are open to all. This year is our 40th year in our building here in Garden City, and we have many celebrations planned to make this anniversary special.

UUCCN, or Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Central Nassau is centrally located for easy access from most parts of Queens, Nassau and eastern Suffolk. Please look around the web site and learn more about us, and then come on by one Sunday and be our guest. Most people who come for the first time find out that they have been Unitarian Universalists most of their lives, and didn't even know it. I look forward to meeting you on Sunday.

 In fellowship and friendship,
